Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore organizes what is called the finest marching band in the U.S. in Boston

Gilmore arrived in Boston in 1848, eventually settling at 2 Sharon Street. An entrepreneur as well as a musician, he comes to be called the “Father of the American Concert Band.”
